The 2015 GCV Celtic Farm Shiraz Cabernet is a really attractive Clare red blend which will repay medium term cellaring
A degree of elegance - deep red in colour, the wine displays ripe satsuma plum and blackcurrant, a little chocolate and a hint of cedary French oak.
Reviews
91 points - Halliday Wine Companion
“Campbell Mattinson. Quite a name for a winery/vineyard. I’m a fan. Be bold. So many same-same names/brands around.
You’re doing well here for $23. Heaps of fruit-filled flavour, good sense of balance, warming in a (most) pleasant way and clipped nicely with tannin through the finish. Well put together, all the way through.”

Vintage Notes
Growing Season
The 2015 vintage was shaped by a cool winter with above average rainfall followed by a dry and quite warm spring. Budburst was almost 2 weeks earlier than normal due to the warmer conditions and, as a consequence harvest was also very early – we commenced vintage on Feb 4th. The Summer was quite mild really and did not get hot for any extended period, apart from a few days around New Year and mid February conditions were very mild for the rest of the harvest.
Winemaking
The grapes for this wine were both machine and hand harvested, transported to the winery, destemmed into small open fermenters, chilled and macerated for approx 3-4 days prior to the natural yeasts kicking in and beginning the ferment. Fermentation was completed within 12 days prior to the wine being pressed and run into used French 228L barrels for 18 months.
